Boys’ Basketball
Despite dropping a 71-62 game to Muskegon last Friday, the Sailors had three conference wins over Zeeland East (58-46), Holland Christian (67-55), and Zeeland West (44-41). The boys also defeated cross-town rival MCC, 48-45, where senior Russ Amidon led the way with 27 points.
Volleyball
The volleyball team had a huge win over rival Fruitport, which is ranked No. 2 in Div. 2, in five games on Feb. 21 in front of a packed house. At the OK Green Conference tournament, the Sailors finished second to Unity Christian, which put them tied for first place overall. At the tournament, the Sailors were led by senior Chelsea Tripp (17 kills), sophomore Marie Roof (30 kills) and senior Kayla Barkett (40 digs). The Sailors played in districts this week with the finals taking place tomorrow.
Wrestling
The Sailors finished their season placing fourth at the OK Green Conference Tournament. Then at disticts, Shores failed to qualify for regionals, and no individual wrestlers moved on.
Hockey
The Sailors failed in their attempt at sharing the the OK Conference Tier 1 title by losing to East Kentwood, 4-2, last Friday. The Sailors did rebound to defeat Big Rapids, 3-1, the next night.At the Showcase tournament in Trenton, the Sailors lost to two top-ranked teams, Livonia Churchill and Detriot Catholic Central. As of Feb. 19, the team is ranked No. 5 in Div. 2.
Gymnastics
The Sailors defeated East Kentwood (120-116) and Cadillac (124-115). Freshmen Jaclyn Sipovic and Brittany Wilson each got first-place finishes in the all-around.
Competitive Cheer
The girls finished third at the Rockford Invitational before going on to finish in second place in the conference behind Holland Christian. Tomorrow, the team competes at Regionals.
Bowling
The boys finished third at the conference tournament, and senior Pat Mieczkowski placed first overall. The Sailors completed their season at regionals last week.
