When it comes to sports people play for the love of the game. No matter what happens everyone plays because they love it. That is a motto that students at Plano High School lived by until this year. The sports fee was raised from $35 to $75. The main question being asked is why. Athletic Director, Mr. Schmidt said, “Other schools charge seventy five and with the raise, for every one kid that sport will get forty dollars.” Mr. Schmidt said, “We had such a big increase because the school wanted to stop fundraisers completely.” This raise is just to help the kids and the school out. With the increase in the sports fee the sports will have extra money to go towards equipment.

A main reason for raising the price was to get rid of fundraisers. Mr. Schmidt wanted to get rid of them because he said, “ I wanted the athletes to focus on the season not on fundraisers.” Students go out for sports for the love of the game, but with the increase in the fee it will affect the number of kids that go out. Mr. Schmidt said, “ It will hurt the kids that are boarder lined, but it will work out in the end.” There is no special deal for those who play three sports. It is still 75 dollars for each sport that is played. The only deal our school offers is if an athlete has a sibling. Then there is a deal the school works out. So never let something like money stand in the way of a passion.
