This year the golf season was very successful. Qualifying took place and the team was set up. Mrs. McGinnis, the golf coach, watched as the team was shaped, and the JV and Varsity teams were determined. The Varsity team consisted of 6 players and two players who played for both Varsity and JV teams. The season continued to be a success. The Varsity team ended with an overall record of 12-8. They played in the I-8 Conference tournament where they got 4th place out of the 12 total teams in conference. Next up were the Regionals. Plano missed out on advancing to sectionals by only six strokes. Even though they didn’t advance as a team, Taylor L., and Josh G. advanced individually to Sectionals. Taylor got the best score in the entire Sectional carding a 75, and Josh was not far behind but still advanced with a 79. The following week was The Sectional in Rockford. At the end there were many great scores, Taylor just barely missed advancing to State shooting an 85. Josh did advance to the State final in Bloomington, after carding his 79. Josh performed very well in the State Final, he got a 85 on the first day and came back and carded a 2 over 74, to take 32nd place out of 105 golfers in the state finals.
