Those without a license, you have to wait even longer now. Starting in January, students will have to wait nine months after they get their permit in order to get their license. The past couple years, students only needed their permit for three months before they could get their license. Nichole N., sophomore, was a student who barely made it. She’s an older sophomore, so she only has to wait three months. Yet, her younger classmates will have to wait nine months. Nichole’s thoughts on the new requirements, is, “it’s a good thing to have their license nine months, because they will get more practice and more experience.” With her birthday being in September, she only has to wait until December to get on the road. Nichole still doesn’t think the new rules are fair, even though she doesn’t have to wait as long. She stated, “Everybody else didn’t have to wait as long, so it’s not necessarily fair, but they will be better drivers.” Sometimes life isn’t fair, but everyone will eventually get their license, no matter what. Even though they may have to wait six months longer, they may be better prepared for the road. Having better experience is always a good thing.
