Want to know what the marching Mohawks have been up to this spring?
On Monday, April 6, 2009, the Cincinnati Reds played their opening game at Great American Ballpark, preceded by the Opening Day festivities. Two hundred entries resulted in eighteen bands (including MJSHS’) performing in the parade. Despite the cold, rainy weather, the Mohawks provided entertainment with the songs “Smoke on the Water” and “Enter Sandman”. “ It was refreshing to get back out there and play in a parade- it’s been a long Winter”, remarked Junior Conor Griffis, who was one of the many band members who missed school for the day’s events. Although the Reds lost to the New York Mets 0-1 that day, the parade and Opening Day celebrations proved to keep morale high for the Reds- and displayed the Mohawks’ hard work and talent as well.
