It began with Sept. 11, 2001. Osama bin Laden was thought to have attacked our country. After terrorist scares, the focus soon turned to Sadaam Hussein.

Weapons inspectors have been sent to Iraq and military bases are on alert. Thousands of troops have been sent off. It is estimated that by June, there will be half a million U.S. troops in Iraq.

While the possibility of war is very real, most Americans are not in support of war if the United Nations is not backing us according to an NBC news station.

“All our alternatives need to be exhausted before we result in military force,” Lew Faust, principal, said.

The United States is not the only country in fear of war. France and Germany are strongly opposed to it. Their worry is that too much focus will be put on Iraq and threats from North Korea will be ignored.

After World War II, a treaty was made that atomic weapons would not be used again. If North Korea breaks the treaty, the fear is that other countries will break the treaty as well.

While the nation holds its breath, many more troops will be sent off to the Middle East.
