“Look.”

“What?”

“Look at this. Wouldn’t this make a great photograph? Oh, maybe even a painting!”

“Uh, it’s a messy plate.”

“Yeah, I know!” Happily, I squint as I artistically place my chopstick onto it, adjusting it until I’m sure I’ve achieved the perfect composition. By the time I finally get it, a waitress comes and takes it away.

“NOOOO!”

I guess for me, everything has its own unique beauty and intrigue. I’ve seen castles in the clouds, tigers in the grain of wooden doors and philosophic symbolism in video games. I guess it’s really no surprise to anyone who knows me that I happen to be an artist. The world has so much depth and beauty that I love to show it to everyone.

It seems like in this day and age, so many things are taken for granted. Even I am sometimes so preoccupied with my own worries to really sit back and take a look at the big picture. Still, the fact remains that everything, everything has some sort of story behind it. You just have to look hard enough.

Let’s take, for example, a great work of art, Michelangelo’s David. To think that something that famous all started with tiny aquatic microorganisms millions of years ago. It’s true! The little swimmers were eaten by fish, who later died, sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Over the years, their bodies stacked on top of each other until the whole mix became a bed of limestone. Then, the stone was melted by volcanic pressure for another thousand years or so until finally it became a bed of marble. Only then would the young artist come along and meticulously chisel it into a work of art. There’s more to things that what meets the eye.

And, you know, forces like that are at work all the time, it’s just we never stop to think about it. You know, maybe the world would be a better place if we all just took a moment to see the way things really are.
