I am a professional procrastinator, a career that many high schoolers go into during their senior year. I can procrastinate at most anything: homework, chores, e-mailing people, seeing people that I really do not want to see, waking up in the mornings, filling up my car’s gas tank, apologizing and answering an important question. Almost anything is subject to procrastination.

But as I hang in a suspended state of procrastination, one thing refuses to slow down with me: time.

It is February, did you know that? This amazingly obvious fact baffles me. How could we let it be February already?! Because after February comes March, then April, and May right after that!

Ah, the infamous and looming May!

Yes, the greatest obstacle in the life of a professional procrastinator is May. All year round I have procrastinated on doing homework, applying for colleges and scholarships and preparing myself for next fall. Receiving an acceptance letter from the Kansas City Art Institute this week has really made me look at the calendar. It is February and procrastination will be my downfall if I do not get into gear.

This applies to all senior procrastinators; time keeps ticking for everyone alive, including you and me. Soon enough these people here are going to kick us out of this school and tell us never to come back again. This is not something on which we can procrastinate.

If you are not ready for such a dramatic change, do not worry, you are not alone. Personally, I am terrified, yet at the same time a little excited. College will be the first time I will be on my own.

Think of all the preparation that we seniors have to do for college! We still have another semester to pass, clothes to pack, and Ramen noodles to stock up on.

So brace yourselves, seniors. Time is about to smack us in the face for all the moments that we ignored it, and Time is very bitter.
