Along a 90 mile coast, emergency workers retrieved corpses lying on streets and among ruins, reports clarionledger.com on recent news about hurricane Katrina.

Dead bodies of animals contaminate the waters of the south, forcing people to wait in shelters for food and water, their homes destroyed beyond repair.

Then the worst problems arose; people looting, raping, and killing, filled the street with chaos.

New Orleans, the home of Mardi Gras, is destroyed. It has become an underwater city, with waters as high as roof tops. The citizens of New Orleans crowd into the Super Dome in hope for shelter, food, and especially water.

In seems at the worst times, when people should work together to try to fix things, it turns to chaos, and brings out the worst in people.

The homes that still have hope, stand guarded by the owners to protect their families and items.

It seems ridiculous that people make things worse by turning into animals. Stealing a television isn’t worth killing someone over, especially when others die from the wrath of human nature.

Others break into houses and stores in hopes of finding bottled water , diapers, and food. This , to me is very understandable.

The CEO and president of the American Red Cross claim that Hurricane Katrina is the worst disaster in the history of the Red Cross.

One insurer estimates the Hurricane Katrina will cost around 25 billion dollars, other say it will be much more than that.

Back in Kansas, the weather is calm. The most we have to worry about is how we’re going to pay for our gas. While south of us, people are planning where they will go, or live, for the next 80 days, until their homes are drained of water, and hopefully repaired.
