The Crescenta Valley Town Council along with Crescenta Valley High School have teamed up to create a fundraising pancake breakfast. The breakfast will be held in the CV quad from 6:30 A.M. to 11:30 on Saturday, October 10th and will benefit various school clubs and organizations, as well as the school itself.
Various organizations, such as the cheerleaders, on campus have been given a set number of tickets to sell, and in return, they will receive half of the proceeds. Tickets are five dollars a piece and definitely worth the money.
At the breakfast volunteers will be serving all you can eat pancakes, sausages, eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee, all of which has been donated by various businesses within the community.
"The girls that sell the tickets get to keep 50 percent of the profit, that money they can then use toward their expenses in cheer." Pep squad advisor Vickie Bouldin explains.
The other half of the money raised by the breakfast will be donated to the school in the form a scholarship fund for CV seniors.
The breakfast last year made $4000 dollars, and participation among the school was much less than this year’s event.
This year there are more than eight different organizations on campus selling tickets. Organizations range from the football team to the Academy of Science and Medicine.
Also there is hope that there will be entertainment like in the past year. Last year Les Belles Blue singing group performed along with the string quartet.
Mr. Van Bremen excitedly spoke of the breakfast and stated it was, "a nice social event."
All in all this years pancake breakfast shows potential to be more successful than breakfasts in the past. Tickets will be sold until the day of the breakfast so it is never too late to get a ticket and help seniors.
