This year's boys' Varsity soccer squad started out slow, but soon kicked in to gear to finish the season with an 11-5-2 record.

After a rough start, the Rams managed to come together, working hard to earn a spot in the playoffs, but in the first round against the Sunnyslope Vikings the Rams suffered a tough defeat (3-1), to eliminate them and end their season.

The boys had a number of standout players including three first team All Region players: Angel Avila, Miguel Soto, and Richelen Miller.

Senior twins Pablo and Pedro Jacquez were named 2nd Team All Region, and Mike Morgan, Mitch Barry, Noe Carreto, and Roberto Benavides were named All Region Honorable Mentions.

Junior captain Angel Avila truly emeged as a standout this season. Avila scored 22 goals along with six assists to claim the Skyline Region scoring title.

Coach Adam Roberts is very proud of the team's 3rd place in Region finish. Roberts is especially proud of the team's performancein the Mesa Invitational Tournament, in which the Rams defeated four 5A schools and placed third overall in the tournament.

The Lady Rams (1-4) also, didn't come up big as they wanted to but did improve in statistics ways. The girls participated in the Glendale Invitational and lost to Glendale 9-4 and lost to Independence with a score of 3-2 in overtime in a last 5 second drive.

One problem that the girls had to deal with this year is matching up against other teams. The Rams didn't have as many girls as last year. That left the girls outnumbered in most of their games and therefore made it an endurance game for them.

"We got really good potential on the offensive line, although their very young," said Coach Donovan.

Thunderbird and Slope were this seasons toughest opponents. T-Bird was the highlighted game of the year according to Coach Donavan.T-Bird is one of the toughest schools to play, but this year lost to them 4-0 and had them at 1-0 by halftime and that showed alot of improvement on defense.

"The team has progressed nicely, it made the team play the game more mentally," said Coach Donavan.

"Next year we need to generate more offense improve record, and try to recruit more players."
