$05 years of dedicated service helping students reach their career goals, Ms. Anna Paikow, one of Fairfax’s most adored staff members and Fairfax alumnus, is retiring. In 1984 Ms. P was hired as Fairfax’s Hebrew teacher and in 1988 she became the schools career advisor. In 1991 she was promoted to work experience coordinator. $0She graduated from Fairfax High School, with a 3.87 GPA in the class of 1964. She was highly active in many school clubs such as Drama, Folk song Club, Alphas, C.S.F., and was President of the Prometheans, The Hebrew Club, and of her eleventh grade class.$0After leaving Fairfax she received a scholarship to The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. While there she majored in Middle Eastern affairs. She then went on to graduate school and later began teaching world history, and English in Tel Aviv. $0Her first teaching job in the LAUSD was at Berendo Middle School. She then began working at the secondary instruction, writing curriculum. She helped publish four booklets on life skills curriculum.$0Ms. Paikow says, “I have loved working here. I’m really going to miss it but most of all I’m going to miss all of the wonderful people.” As for her many plans for retirment she jokingly said that becoming an astronaut was on her long list. All she could really say at the moment was “ I have lots and lots of plans, I’m not going to sit still. I want to still be around High School kids though that’s for sure”$0Hopefully, Ms. Paikow will accomplish her goals and do well after leaving her beloved Fairfax.$0$0
