Our project was designed for the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline. When we were first told about it, we thought it would be simple to make. Little did we know that it would take a lot more time and effort than we thought. Our first step to making the video was to draw out our plans on the storyboard- which was quite easy. Next was to decide on all the props and roles each person was going to play. We then thought of the location and a time when we were going to film the video.
Steering away from our original plans, we directed our video in a different (yet still similar) way. The first scene was set in “the bar” where Sarah (The abusive boyfriend) was drinking and Alli (The friend) was helping her out. In the next scene, Chris (The unspoken girlfriend), was preparing to go out with her friend. She then hears a loud knocking at the door, and puts the phone down. When she answers the door, she realizes that it’s her abusive boyfriend who, after a long night of drinking, throws her to the ground. In the final scene, you see the friend, who was on the other line with the girlfriend, trying to call for help.
When we first began this project we thought it was going to be easy as pie but it turned out to be as difficult as making a flambé. This project taught us a lot about iMovie and filming along with the effects of teen dating abuse.
