Students for the
Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) is an international network that links
teams of secondary school students to nearby university students, business
leaders and civic leaders. The SAGE mission is to help create the next
generation of entrepreneurial leaders whose innovations and social enterprises
address the major unmet needs of our global community. Each school will come up
with products to sell and try to make a profit with that will then support some
type of community or cause such as the SPCA, breast cancer, the stop of child
abuse etc.
This year Leonardo da
Vinci is coming into the competition and will try to defeat the other schools
with their creative ideas. But there is one thing to remember, we are not only
in it to win but we are in it to have fun.
Over the past couple of weeks Mrs. Giambrone and some of the students,
including myself, have been thinking of products we could use, or even products
we could buy and resell for a cause to make a profit. There have been some
creative ideas but we are no where near done. Right now it is all about coming
up with creative ideas and finding sponsors to support us. Also we are trying
to figure out which causes or communities we want to support. There are three
different competitions that you go in if you make it past the first regional competition (which is in the blue lounge, D’youville College). Only 2 schools
from NY will make it to nationals which are at the University at Buffalo. If we are lucky
enough to make it that far, we then go to the World Cup competition which will
either be held in LA or South
Africa.
We hope we can make it
that far, but if we don’t we know that we'll have a blast doing it. If you are interested
in entrepreneurship and want to help then JOIN! Go see Mrs. Giambrone
ASAP. We need any help we can get to make it to the World Cup competition. It’s about having fun, not just about competition- so get involved!
