Maybe I just like Pumpkinville because I'm a huge dork =D

October is here and that means fall festivities are going on everywhere! Activities from going to haunted places, such as Fright Fest, Fright World  and other places for a scared thrill or going to OctoberFest and hitting up the pumpkin patch are being done all over the Buffalo area. Personally, the one place I wanted to go to as soon as October hit was Pumpkinville.

Pumpkinville is located at 4844 Sugartown Road in Great Valley, NY 14731, just minutes from Ellicottville. It is a place that I have been going every year since I moved to WNY and its pretty much one of those traditions you feel the need to continue even when you outgrow it. They’re open everyday from 9 AM to 7 PM, from now up until October 31st. They have a cider mill, a corn maze, homemade pumpkin donuts and other various fun activities. It’s geared for a younger crowd and families but I still recommend it.

My family wasn’t going this year as my younger sisters moved but I still yearned to go. So last Friday I begged my boyfriend to go to the place that was the key to my happiness in the fall when the cold weather gets me down. He obliged when I told him how much it meant to me. Thus Friday afternoon we left straight after school and started on the hour or so ride down to Pumpkinville. When we got there it was kind of dead as the weather had gotten a bit cold but we didn’t care.

We first headed over to the stand where they sold hot cider and got ourselves a cup to help keep the chill away. Then we decided to go through the corn maze before it snowed. For the corn maze they give you this sheet of paper and you have to go through the maze and find four clues. When you solve the riddle and get out successfully you get a little pumpkin to take home. After that we watched little kids use this gun that shoots corn and laughed as they cheered and got their corn to land on the target after it was hurtled through the sky. Pumpkin donuts grabbed our attention next so we got a dozen and a half to split between us. They’re best when warm and the donuts alone are enough to make the trip down. As coldness began to overtake us, we finally decided we should probably head back before the weather got any worse. So finally, to end our time there, we looked around to find some pumpkins to take home. They were all so perfect so it was actually hard to choose.

Overall, it definitely awoke my inner child. If it wasn’t so cold it would have been better but overall I’m happy I made the trip down. I strongly recommend Pumpkinville if you're looking to awake your inner child in this season of endings. If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, at least take a younger sibling or cousin as I assure you they would enjoy it.
