My mom used to read me stories as a child and I loved it. A famous childrens book is Where the Wild Things Are. It’s a story about a boy that gets punished for misbehaving in a wolf costume so he is sent to bed without supper. So he imagines that he sails to this land of make believe. While he is there, he meets some gruesome looking creatures. He becomes the “King of all Wild Things” and encourages complete chaos in the land.  He thinks it is great that he can tell the monsters what to do and have them listen to him. But soon he misses being at home. He returns home and supper is still hot and waiting for him.

The movie should be the same thing, right? I suppose it was, but not exactly. I recently saw the movie Where the Wild Things Are. I was able to decipher the plot easier throughout the movie as opposed to the book. The general idea of the story was the same within both of them. So, let’s talk about the differences. The movie starts with a strange boy that went by the name of Max and all he wanted to do was to feel accepted but he got picked on by his sister's friends which made him upset and he caused mischief because of it. But it wasn’t untill his mother ignored him that he got himself into trouble. He visits his made up land, where the monsters  are depressed and they think Max is there to help make them happy. The rest of the story goes on just like the book except for when he wants to go home. He does miss his home eventually but he got a monster mad at him, which made him actually decide to go home. The main monster went by the name of Carol and he had some temper problems. Once Carol realized that Max is really not a king and everything else he had talked about was a lie, Carol tried to eat Max to get rid of him. This is when Max runs away and decides to go home. Once again, Max returns home and supper is there, waiting for him.
Never judge a book by its cover. You might not get what is expected.
