Your new shoes
always get dirty and you don’t care, you wake up in pain, and stretching is the
best feeling in the world. That’s right folks, the sport is cross country. You
run and you run and it seems like it lasts forever. But, when you see that
finish line, you're unstoppable!
This is the sport
that your own Leonardo da Vinci team LOVES. This sport has been around for
ages, evolving as new technology emerges and we try our best to do what we can
to make our school proud. We love to run, and even give up mornings over our
summer vacation to run! We run on Saturdays, in the cold, and even when we have
colds! Usually when other sports events are canceled, we still do our
duty and run for the season. We run in the rain, and some even run in the snow. Male or female, it's what we do!
Anna Vuich, one of
my best friends and an amazing teammate, broke the da Vinci school record set
in 2003 by finishing a 16:38 at Delaware Park. Soon after, Janelle Mitri finished
a 16:47. Both of these astounding girls finished in remarkable times, both
beating our school record of 16:55.
Among other accomplishments, all of our girls received personal best times
including yours truly, with a time of 19:58.
This is a sport
unlike any other, your coach may even dye his hair blue in order to prove how
happy he is. You run and win, you run and lose. But, as long as you try your
best there is always a victory.
