Cassie

The princess of Bad Boy Records, Cassie Ventura, is back with a vengeance after her three-year hiatus. She will be releasing her sophomore album, “Electro Love” later this month.

You may remember Cassie from her 2006 hit single, “Me & U,” which blew up the radio and Internet, and reached number three on The Billboard Hot 100 list. It also received more than one million online downloads, according to iTunes. Her debut album, “Cassie,” released in August of 2006, failed to sell well and it seemed pre mature for her to emerge.

Many thought this was the beginning and end for this model/singer. She was instantly written off as a one-hit-wonder, criticized for her inexperience and thought to have “slept around for checks.” Her rocky performances affected her negatively and she faded out of the limelight. Little did people know, Cassie began working on her vocals and her stage presence. In September 2008, she emerged with her first promo single off of her second album, “Official Girl,” (featuring Grammy award winning rapper Lil Wayne). Penned by The Clutch, and produced by Danja, Cassie spills her soul out with every lyric and note from her come back single. Along with the song, the music video shows Cassie’s flawless choreography and gorgeous looks. It should be one of the greatest tracks on her CD. More recently, in April 2009, she released her second single, “Must Be Love” (featuring legendary producer/artist Diddy). The track has a very classy and 90’s R&B feel to it. Cassie’s vocals shine in “Must be Love,” proving she’s not just a pretty face. The music video for the song is in the process of filming. Along with Lil Wayne and Diddy, “Electro Love” features many other respected artists and producers such as Kanye West, Pharrel Williams, Ryan Leslie, Swizz Beats, and The-Dream.

Cassie has stated on her website that her new album will demonstrate more "independence"; there will be a "difference in vocals, a little bit more personality. And it's definitely a sensual album." She said that she was able "to work with different people and [learn] what their habits were.” She has learned what works well for her. With a fresh look, after shaving half of her head, and a refined singing voice, Cassie is back and here to stay.
