So far the sophomore basketball team has started the season off pretty badly with a record of eight losses and no wins.

They played their biggest rival, Westchester, on Oct. 3. Venice lost by 20 points. In their most recent game against University High, they almost won but still lost by seven points, leaving the score 51-44.

Shooting Guard Lee Wong, one of the star players, sprained his ankle in the third quarter, making him miss the fourth quarter of the University game.

"Even though we are losing, I am looking forward to playing Palisades because we have a chance to win," said the captain, Derek Cano.

During practice, the team runs 20 laps around the gym, practices their dribbling, shooting, and holds scrimmages. "Practice is very tiring but fun. I just play for the sport," said Cano.

Their game against Palisades is on October 26 at Palisades.
