Prom is a little over a month away, and most girls have either bought their dress or are desperately searching for the perfect gown for that special night. Although the amount of formal dresses is never-ending during this time of year, it can be hard to find that one dress that makes you feel like a princess. Nevertheless, there are some things to keep in mind before splurging on your get-up. The most important thing to remember is that the flashiest, funkiest dress will definitely get you noticed, but not in the right way. It's always a safe bet to stick with classic styles that don't have slits in all different directions or necklines that plunge so far down that it looks like you have a hole in your dress. You want to look chic, not cheap.

Men have it a bit easier. There are basically only two options, a suit or a tux. Anything else is simply too underdressed for a formal event, such as prom. It may be tempting to add a hat, chain, or sunglasses, but these accessories only end up detracting from your overall look. Clean, simple outfits are the most flattering. At the end of the day, prom is a night for you to remember, so wear something that makes you feel confident.
