Awolnation Takes the Crowd Way Back at Houston Stop

What happens when you combine loud rock music, crowd surfing and mind-blowing lighting effects?

An Awolnation concert.

What started as a slow night quickly escalated to incredible pandemonium after the opening bands finished their acts. Neither was memorable, but small portions of the crowd recognized them and responded accordingly, with loud screams and pumping fists.

After a short wait, around 15 minutes, the lights exploded, and a wall-sized, pulsating logo spelling “AN” appeared in the background of the stage. Awolnation had arrived.

Instead of opening up with “Sail” or “Burn it Down” (the mainstream hits), they took the escalating route, beginning with more of the lesser-known songs from their album. It was a good tactic.
By the time Awolnation reached the climax of the show, there was ecstatic pandemonium. Crown surfing was rampant, water was being thrown in waves from the stage, lights were exploding with bright vibrant colors, and the beat of the music gave the crowd a new, unified heartbeat.

At one point, Aaron Bruno, the lead singer, vaulted himself off the stage and into the crowd, allowing them to hoist him up in a mass of excitement and adrenaline, all while not missing a beat.

After playing their mainstream hits, Awolnation returned for an encore. They took it down a notch by playing a few slower songs, but the crowd didn’t take notice. The crowded mass of an audience was jumping up and down just like the band members onstage.

The show was an absolute blast. The band played with spectacular energy considering they have been on tour for quite a while. It was a night of incredible, unexplainable, intense pandemonium and excitement, where no one had a problem or care in the world.

The result was a fantastic concert, one of the best I have seen in a while. Maybe Awolnation should consider giving other bands concert lessons, because theirs was a complete success.
