Once again the nation is facing a new generation: a population that thinks it is ready to change things for the better by improving the world; learning from their parents’ mistakes.

Parents can sometimes become the enemy when it comes to the rules of the house; their dictation seems so unfair and unreasonable.

Junior John Dumnich deemed babysitting his brother somewhat unfair.

“When I’m watching my brother, I’m not allowed to take him anywhere,” Dumnich said.

Therefore, kids decide that when they have children, they will make it so that the unreasonable rules no longer apply.

Dumnich claimed that he would try to find a babysitter for his younger child, so as not to “ruin the older one’s plans.”

Though these students still have respect for their parents, the rules may not be to their liking.

However, freshman Arianna Mognet explained that she understands her parents’ rules and regulations.

“There’s a point to all of them,” Mognet said.

Senior Leah Knobloch explained that her parents’ major concern when she is out is that she calls to check in.

“Now I understand,” she said. “They want to make sure where I am.”

Knobloch claimed that she is very close with her parents and would want her children to stay close with family as well. She explained that she would not raise her children much differently than her parents have raised her.

“I’d put my own spin on it,” she said. “But they’re pretty good parents.”

Dumnich explained that he would keep a relationship based on trust with his children, as he does with his father.

“As long as he can depend on me, I can depend on him,” Dumnich said.

Mognet claimed that she would allow her children more “privacy.”

Of course, for most high school students, the thought of children has not even crossed their minds.

“It’s so far in the future,” Mognet said.

It is certainly hard to tell what one would do when they have children. With every new generation comes a new set of scenarios and situations that may arise.

“As time changes, parenting will change,” Dumnich said.
