Amnesty International’s main goal will be to raise $40,000 to give to the school in Sudan, financed by schools in Littleton. It will be completed this December. The school’s name will be Unified School of Southern Sudan, Hope Academy or Valor Academy. The names were announced at Soup Night, Nov. 20.This December Amnesty members will write letters to prisoners of conscience, or prisoners who are in jail for their beliefs. They also plan to hold another Jamnesty concert in the spring. They raised a little under $400 at the last concert, Project Education Sudan. Next semester they plan to hold a silent auction to raise money to the school in Sudan. “Amnesty opens the member’s eyes to the real world and how good we have it here in Littleton,” sponsor Shana Hurt said. “They learn how to be active citizens and what simple letter writing or signing a petition can do.”
