From athletics to academics, the Sisler family has been an integral part of life at Arapahoe High School.
These dedicated faculty members have become more than just teachers to Arapahoe’s students and friends to the staff, today they are a part of the Arapahoe family.
The Sisler family not only brings a hard work ethic, enthusiasm and friendship to Arapahoe, but also strives to uphold Arapahoe traditions.
“[The Sislers] really keep the focus on tradition, what there was [before] at Arapahoe and where it is going,” Ginger Sisler said.
There are four Sislers who are currently working on the Arapahoe staff – – Robert, Ginger, Steven and Patrick.
According to Ginger Sisler, working at Arapahoe was the best choice the family made and they would not change a thing.
“Our world revolves around this high school,” Ginger Sisler said. “This is something to be proud of.”
Robert Sisler, married to Ginger Sisler, has been a part of the Arapahoe staff since 1975. He now works part-time as a physical education teacher and an assistant wrestling coach.
Robert Sisler coached three sports for 31 years until he decided to give up football and track in 2006.
Because of his long term dedication to athletics, many students don’t just see him as a coach or teacher but also as close friend.
“The Sislers are great coaches because they push us hard while still maintaining a sense of humor and keeping it fun,” senior Kyle Harpster said.
Robert Sisler relates to many students and athletes.
He is always there for students when the experience in his field is needed.
“The Sislers tell personal stories which relate to us because they have been there before,” Harpster said.
Robert Sisler believes Arapahoe has a great administration and loves working with Arapahoe’s students.
Robert’s wife, Ginger Sisler also works at Arapahoe. Ginger Sisler joined the Arapahoe staff in August of 1991. She is Arapahoe’s secretary to the assistant principals for student services.
“We were so lucky when we were given the opportunity and we fit the job description,” Ginger Sisler said. “I’m glad we could make this happen.”
For most students at Arapahoe, Ginger Sisler is the “go-to” person for almost every question.
She is there to distribute parking passes to juniors and seniors, provide students with graduation information, assists those who have lost an item and assigns student appointments with their administrators.
“I love being there to help students solve problems and being there to answer questions,” Ginger Sisler said.
Steven Sisler, son of Ginger and Robert Sisler, and graduate of Arapahoe High School in 1996, joined the Arapahoe staff in 2002 teaching U.S. history and world civilizations.
“There are so many things I love about Arapahoe,” Steven Sisler said. “I love working with the entire staff, the students and the community.”
Steven Sisler has been through Arapahoe as a student and an athlete since his freshmen year. He was the captain of the track and wrestling team in 1996.
He is now an assistant principal and the athletic director for Arapahoe.
Patrick Sisler, younger son of Ginger and Robert Sisler, is a graduate from Arapahoe and joined the Arapahoe staff in 2007 as campus security.
As well as security, Patrick Sisler coaches freshman football and is an assistant coach for the wrestling team.
When Patrick Sisler attended Arapahoe he was Arapahoe’s “Athlete of the Year” in 1999.
Both Steven and Patrick Sisler played football, wrestling and track at Arapahoe.
Arapahoe is lucky to have such a dedicated family that has become so involved with the students and staff at Arapahoe.
