Dr. Thomas, the senior English teacher on the third floor, is back. After about three months of absence Dr. Thomas has semi recovered, but is completely ready to get back to teaching. She had a medical issue and it required her to miss the rest of year, but this being Dr. Thomas…she wasn’t going to let that happen. In class she told her AP students “I’ve only missed 16 days in 32 years…” Why let a little surgery tack on more days? Now shes back, and ready to get the seniors on their English schedules the Doc Thomas way.
In return of Dr. Thomas, journalism felt it necessary to acknowledge her homecoming, and many students feel the same. I spoke with the AP English students and they told me, “We’re delighted that she could come back before the test.” Senior Caitlin Gerber told me, “I’m glad she’s here, and happy she gets to keep doing what she loves.” Lastly senior Justin Stein expressed with his sincerest of feelings, “I’m quite excited to see her back in the building. It’s a privilege to be in her presence again.”
Next time you are walking through the halls of the third floor, don’t cower away from room 301. Instead remember that Dr. Thomas came back to teach to help you out. After you consider that, you have to realize that she’s here for you.
