In order for the seniors to get out of school early and graduate, they have to complete a certain amount of community service hours. I asked many students to see what they had done or planned on doing, and I got many results. Some students are doing activities for the school or our elementary schools. Other students are doing services for the elderly. A few students are even doing things for their churches.
A lot of students are taking money to get in and helping out around our high school and middle school track meets. Michael Dague, Bethanie Yoder, and Sam Mascotti are all helping with track meets. Michael Dague and some others also helped clean up at the Norma Johnson Center, he also helped DJ at the middle school dance. Kourtney Troyer helped paint around her church, and Bridgette Keim did some babysitting. Some students tutored at an elementary. Kendra Gerber did this and she also said that she was helping to get the softball field ready for games. Sam Mascotti stated, “I am doing therapy with my great aunt in her nursing home.” Mowing lawns and house cleaning is what Kenzie Kaufman is doing and Justin Stein is helping work for Mrs. Wengerd around her house.
