Depression is becoming a problem in today’s society.  It makes everyday things in life difficult to deal with.  Small, simple, or tedious tasks can become intolerable and overload one with pressure.  People deal with it and experience it in different ways: some people feel consumed by sadness, others may feel less sad but empty all the time, and some feel like life is “living in a black hole.”

Depression is often related to thoughts of suicide or self inflicting pain.  Many people may have extreme weight loss or gain.  A loss of sleep or gaining way too much sleep can be a symptom.  Some may have loss of interest or focus in activities they once loved.  A lot of the time people will feel physically even when doing activities that used to be easy.

Depression is often looked over by most people but can be a serious problem in ones life.  There is a billboard in Dover that really proves this point, it says:

“You would never say its just cancer, get over it.”

This shows that often today it is looked over as something to simply get over, but it can be a real problem.  If you think you may have depression it would be a good idea to seek help from a counselor.  Depression is a real thing, that shouldn’t be looked over.
