Some restaurants claim to have the best of the best, but you could be the judge of that. By being a food tester or food critic you could have your own go at it. There is a slight difference between the two food loving jobs. A food critic publishes his or her results of an evening at an establishment, a tester just tells the owner or cook what he thinks of the dish and restaurant all over based on appearance, taste, texture, and all over pallet ability. This job is often freelance or available through a small group of esteemed people.

If you are looking for a high income job this is the way to go (depending on your idea of high income). The pay per year is between $54,184 to $99,137, but as low an average as $69,587. Since this job is hit or miss it can really vary at times. At times you may also be asked to bring a family member or friend with you for a second opinion, which isn’t a bad idea if the restaurant is trying to attract a certain group of people.

To have this job you should have or soon acquire a great pallet and love for food, not just eating. You must learn to savor every bite and assess the many texture and tastes. Along with eating you must take into consideration the appearance of the restaurant and understand its vibe and judge the service. “I think being a food tester would be an awesome job because I love all types of food and I’d get to eat for free,” says Sydni Immel, sophomore. This is the way to go for free food and a full belly daily
