St. Louis here we come! The Richland High School baseball and softball teams recently went to Saint Louis to watch the Cardinals play the Pittsburg Pirates. Of course the Cards won. The final score was 5-2.
“The trip was really fun,” exclaimed sophomore baseball player Ryan Kleffer. “My favorite part was when Jason Larue hit the home-run.”
“I was all decked out in my Cardinal gear,” said softball player Amber Tilley. “I was glad we got the win.”
Every player received a coupon for one free soda, hotdog, and bag of chips. On top of that Mr. Qualls also brought peanuts and sunflower seeds for everyone.
“I was glad we got some free food,” said Dylan DeJournett. “I spent most of my money buying souvenirs.”
The seats were way up in the stadium but the Rebel players didn’t care. That just meant a better view.
After they arrived at Bush Stadium some of the baseball players went down to the Cardinals dug-out hoping to get some autographs, but without anyone thinking we didn’t have a pen, so we didn’t get any.
“We were so close at getting Skip Schumakers autograph,” cried Dylan. “It was the closest I’ve ever been.”
Overall the trip was a blast for the team members. Hopefully next year both teams will have enough players to have teams and they can go see some real action again.
