Maudie Westfall, Laurelbrook’s activities director, devised a new plan for supper on Wednesday evening, August 1 – students would divide up into three groups and eat part of their meal at three different staff homes. Three groups of staff members – James and Nancy Brenneman, Roger and Maudie Westfall, and Bill Wennell and Miriam Mijia escorted the three student groups from home to home.

The experience of the Brenneman’s group was typical. For the main part of their meal, the students went to the home of Aaron and Susan Athearn where they ate a delicious plate of pasta. Next the group went to the home of Gladys and Keith Ferguson where they had a dessert made of crushed and chilled strawberries topped with whipped cream. The last stop came at the home of Rick and Wendy Carr where the group ate their salad.

It was an interesting evening, the first time two students from Honduras had been with a student activities group.
