Hosea 12:13 NKJV  “By a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet he was preserved.”

Sunday – Preaching the Gospel

Genesis 22:1-4 CEV  “1 ¶  Some years later God decided to test Abraham, so he spoke to him. Abraham answered, "Here I am, LORD." 2  The LORD said, "Go get Isaac, your only son, the one you dearly love! Take him to the land of Moriah, and I will show you a mountain where you must sacrifice him to me on the fires of an altar." 3 ¶  So Abraham got up early the next morning and chopped wood for the fire. He put a saddle on his donkey and left with Isaac and two servants for the place where God had told him to go. 4  Three days later Abraham looked off in the distance and saw the place. 5  He told his servants, "Stay here with the donkey, while my son and I go over there to worship. We will come back." 6  Abraham put the wood on Isaac’s shoulder, but he carried the hot coals and the knife. As the two of them walked along, 7  Isaac said, "Father, we have the coals and the wood, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?" "My son," Abraham answered, "God will provide the lamb." The two of them walked on, and 8  (SEE 22:7) 9  when they reached the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and placed the wood on it. Next, he tied up his son and put him on the wood. 10  He then took the knife and got ready to kill his son. 11 ¶  But the LORD’s angel shouted from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Here I am!" he answered. 12  "Don’t hurt the boy or harm him in any way!" the angel said. "Now I know that you truly obey God, because you were willing to offer him your only son." 13  Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in the bushes. So he took the ram and sacrificed it in place of his son. 14  Abraham named that place "The LORD Will Provide." And even now people say, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."”

Leviticus 4:27-31 CEV “27 ¶  When any of you ordinary people disobey me without meaning to, you are still guilty. 28  As soon as you realize what you have done, you must sacrifice a female goat that has nothing wrong with it. 29  Lead the goat to the north side of the bronze altar and lay your hand on its head, before having it killed. 30  Then a priest will dip a finger in the blood; he will smear some of it on each of the four corners of the altar and pour out the rest at the foot of the altar. 31  After this, the priest will remove all of the fat, just as he does when an animal is sacrificed to ask my blessing. The priest will then send the fat up in smoke with a smell that pleases me. This animal is sacrificed so that I will forgive you ordinary people when you sin.”

Isaiah 53 CEV “1 ¶  Has anyone believed us or seen the mighty power of the LORD in action? 2  Like a young plant or a root that sprouts in dry ground, the servant grew up obeying the LORD. He wasn’t some handsome king. Nothing about the way he looked made him attractive to us. 3  He was hated and rejected; his life was filled with sorrow and terrible suffering. No one wanted to look at him. We despised him and said, "He is a nobody!" 4 ¶  He suffered and endured great pain for us, but we thought his suffering was punishment from God. 5  He was wounded and crushed because of our sins; by taking our punishment, he made us completely well. 6  All of us were like sheep that had wandered off. We had each gone our own way, but the LORD gave him the punishment we deserved. 7  He was painfully abused, but he did not complain. He was silent like a lamb being led to the butcher, as quiet as a sheep having its wool cut off. 8  He was condemned to death without a fair trial. Who could have imagined what would happen to him? His life was taken away because of the sinful things my people had done. 9  He wasn’t dishonest or violent, but he was buried in a tomb of cruel and rich people. 10 ¶  The LORD decided his servant would suffer as a sacrifice to take away the sin and guilt of others. Now the servant will live to see his own descendants. He did everything the LORD had planned. 11  By suffering, the servant will learn the true meaning of obeying the LORD. Although he is innocent, he will take the punishment for the sins of others, so that many of them will no longer be guilty. 12  The LORD will reward him with honor and power for sacrificing his life. Others thought he was a sinner, but he suffered for our sins and asked God to forgive us.”

John 1:29 God’s Word to the Nations  “John saw Jesus coming toward him the next day and said, "Look! This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

Romans 3:21-26 God’s Word to the Nations “21  Now, the way to receive God’s approval has been made plain in a way other than Moses’ Teachings. Moses’ Teachings and the Prophets tell us this. 22  Everyone who believes has God’s approval through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no difference between people. 23  Because all people have sinned, they have fallen short of God’s glory. 24  They receive God’s approval freely by an act of his kindness through the price Christ Jesus paid to set us free from sin. 25  God showed that Christ is the throne of mercy where God’s approval is given through faith in Christ’s blood. In his patience God waited to deal with sins committed in the past. 26  He waited so that he could display his approval at the present time. This shows that he is a God of justice, a God who approves of people who believe in Jesus.”

Monday – Guiding God’s People

Acts 6:1-7 NRSV “1 ¶  Now during those days, when the disciples were increasing in number, the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of food. 2  And the twelve called together the whole community of the disciples and said, "It is not right that we should neglect the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3  Therefore, friends, select from among yourselves seven men of good standing, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this task, 4  while we, for our part, will devote ourselves to prayer and to serving the word." 5  What they said pleased the whole community, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, together with Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6  They had these men stand before the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. 7  The word of God continued to spread; the number of the disciples increased greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.”

1 Corinthians 5:1-5 NRSV “1 ¶  It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not found even among pagans; for a man is living with his father’s wife. 2  And you are arrogant! Should you not rather have mourned, so that he who has done this would have been removed from among you? 3  For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present I have already pronounced judgment 4  in the name of the Lord Jesus on the man who has done such a thing. When you are assembled, and my spirit is present with the power of our Lord Jesus, 5  you are to hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.”

1 Corinthians 7:10-16 NRSV “10 ¶  To the married I give this command—not I but the Lord—that the wife should not separate from her husband 11  (but if she does separate, let her remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife. 12  To the rest I say—I and not the Lord—that if any believer has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. 13  And if any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. 14  For the unbelieving husband is made holy through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy through her husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. 15  But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so; in such a case the brother or sister is not bound. It is to peace that God has called you. 16  Wife, for all you know, you might save your husband. Husband, for all you know, you might save your wife.”

Titus 1:5 NRSV “I left you behind in Crete for this reason, so that you should put in order what remained to be done, and should appoint elders in every town, as I directed you:”

1 John 4:1-3 NRSV “1 ¶  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3  and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world.”

Tuesday – Reproving Sin

1 Kings 18:21 NIV  “Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing.”

Isaiah 1:10-14 NIV “10 ¶  Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah! 11  "The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?" says the LORD. "I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. 12  When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts? 13  Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your evil assemblies. 14  Your New Moon festivals and your appointed feasts my soul hates. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.”

Amos 5:12 NIV “For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. You oppress the righteous and take bribes and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts.”

Malachi 3:8-10 NIV “8  "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ "In tithes and offerings. 9  You are under a curse— the whole nation of you— because you are robbing me. 10  Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

Matthew 3:7-10 NIV “7 ¶  But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8  Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. 9  And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10  The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

Wednesday – Communicating God’s Will

Numbers 9:1-5 KJ21  “1 ¶  And the LORD spoke unto Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2  "Let the children of Israel also keep the Passover at his appointed season. 3  In the fourteenth day of this month at evening ye shall keep it in his appointed season. According to all the rites of it and according to all the ceremonies thereof shall ye keep it." 4  And Moses spoke unto the children of Israel that they should keep the Passover. 5  And they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at evening in the Wilderness of Sinai. According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.”

Jeremiah 37:16-17 KJ21 “16  When Jeremiah had entered into the dungeon and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days, 17  then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out; and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, "Is there any word from the LORD?" And Jeremiah said, "There is, for said He: Thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon!"”

Ezekiel 4:1-6 KJ21 “1 ¶  "Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile and lay it before thee, and portray upon it the city, even Jerusalem; 2  and lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mound against it. Set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about. 3  Moreover take thou unto thee an iron plate, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city; and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel. 4  "Also lie thou upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it, thou shalt bear their iniquity. 5  For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. 6  And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.”

Colossians 4:16 KJ21 “And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.”

Thursday – Predicting the Future

Isaiah 44:28 MKJV  “who says of Cyrus, He is My shepherd, and shall do all My pleasure; even saying to Jerusalem, You shall be built; and to the temple, Your foundation shall be laid.”

Jeremiah 25:11 MKJV “And this whole land shall be a ruin and a waste. And these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.”

Daniel 9:24-27 MKJV “24  Seventy weeks are decreed as to your people and as to your holy city, to finish the transgression and to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy. 25  Know therefore and understand, that from the going out of the command to restore and to build Jerusalem, to Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in times of affliction. 26  And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself. And the people of the ruler who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. And the end of it shall be with the flood, and ruins are determined, until the end shall be war. 27  And he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week. And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease, and on a corner of the altar desolating abominations, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall be poured on the desolator.”

Friday – Further Study

Ellen White, Great Controversy, pp. 449-450 – “The most fearful threatening ever addressed to mortals is contained in the third angel’s message…Men are not to be left in darkness concerning this important matter; the warning against this sin is to be given to the world before the visitation of God’s judgments, that all may know why they are to be inflicted, and have opportunity to escape them.”
