The Lindenhurst Varsity Golf team has wrapped up another successful season. In their league, the golf team is the defending champion from last year, finishing that season with 8-2. This year has been just as successful, finishing in second place with a record of 9-0. On October 6, 2009, the boys’ varsity golf team improved its record to 6 and 2 with a win over Brentwood. Rich Pidkameny shot a 4 over par for a score of 40. Also contributing to the teams’ win was Sean Van-Loan, Sean McDermott, Mike Furia and TJ Kirkland. The week of October 16th, the team finished up their season with two wins against Copiague. Brandon Hauser and Mike Furia shot 39 and 40 in the first match and 38 and 39 in the second match. Because the team finished the season above 500, they’ll be allowed to bring six players to counties in May, which is a very big accomplishment. This year, senior Mike Furia had the lowest average in match play. The team contains only three other seniors – Richie Pidkameny, TJ Kirkland, and Bryan Lavacca, who have all also done very well this past season. The teams’ coach, Mr. Yampiro congratulates the team for their successful season and is very optimistic about next year.
