I first asked Ms. Debra about how she felt leaving the school she has been at for 32 years.  She answered by saying that she had "mixed feelings about leaving".  She stated that she felt "joy, sorrow, and regret about leaving" the high school.

Ms. Debra has been at the school for over 40years.  She started teaching at the high school in 1977.  She taught a resource class which was a type of remediation class for slower students.  Then she taught Spanish and Latin for about 23 years.  Ms. Debra then became the Vice-Principal of Lake County High School, and in 2004 became principal.

When asked to describe her first years of teaching, she replied by saying "they were very busy" and she "had to adapt to the changes".  Ms. Debra also said that students have changed a lot since she started teaching.  She said that she graduated from Lake County High School in 1973.  So, Ms. Debra has almost always been at this school.

I then brought up the subject of her new position at Central Office.  I first asked her what her new job entailed.  She replied  her new job as Supervisor of Curriculum will be to be responsible for teacher recruitment, professional development, and title projects.  Title projects are funds that come from the federal government for special need students.

Next, I asked her if she had any advice for  the new principal.  Ms. Debra said that she would tell her "to always do what you feel is right". I also asked her if she would ever come back to LCHS?  Her reply was "definitely"!  As for a final quote from Ms. Debra, it is simpl "GO BIG GREEN!"

Everyone here at Lake County High School will miss Ms. Debra Holliman very much.  She is Lake County High and can never be replaced in our hearts.  We love you, we will miss you, and we wish you the very best in whatever you decide to do.  Bye Ms. Debra...
