Vampire myths go back thousands of years and occur in almost every culture around the world. The various historical expressions of this mythical creature were dreaded, blood-thirsty manifestations of evil spirits. However, the modern world has created their own version of the nightmare causing tales that began decades ago.

Many teens all over the world are well versed in Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Saga which includes: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Since 2005, teens have been gradually feeding they’re obsessions of Vampires. Meyer not being the only author /cause of this addiction, authors L.J Smith, Richelle Mead, and mother-daughter team P.C Cast are only a few that have been equally supplying their fanatic customers’ with mesmerizing words only the dull can withstand.

It would seem that Teenagers are hypnotized by this genre because it provides a make believe world where all fantasies might come true. When second grade teachers encourage their students to read a book, they tell them that they will take a journey to another world. Today, that journey is what the adolescent mind falls in love with. The impulse to keep turning a page can be mesmerizing. “ Reading is what gets my mind off of drama in my life”, said junior EJ Hanks, “ being able to relax in my room and pick up a book is something I look forward to on stressful days.”

The real question asked, how far will teens go to make their make-belief world come to life?  It’s reported by NYMAG that some teens have been sharing “love bites”. “These so called ”love bites” should be seen as repulsive instead of romantic, and as an abomination instead of it being admired” junior Celeste Franco, strongly stated. By emulating the vampire romances shared in Twilight, True Blood, and The Vampire Diaries teens are somehow “Marking their territory” or “proving their passion” by exploiting each other in “the modern day hickey”.

Should these credible authors take the full blame for influencing teenagers to par take in “love bites”, when future Presidential  candidate, Jonathon Skarkey indulges in the same activity. According to Wikipedia and CD News, Sharkey has a deep belief in vampirism. Sharkey claims that he first drank blood at age five and now consumes the blood of his girlfriends and mistresses twice a week.

“I don’t blame people for having their own disagreeing opinion, but everyone is entitled to their own personal opinion. I’m all for vampires” Said sophomore Alexandra Hernandez

I am so tired of Twilight and the Vampire Diaries but more so I despise Twilight. At least the VD is more creative though I do not like there BS story of how Vampires came to be and the werewolf danger to them. Its messed up considering the story of there beginning seems kind of like a hole in the plot... Not Jonathan Sharkey again. His name has been banished from the Online Vampire Community (SN) and he is not a member of the OVC and he is nothing but a burden and a psychopath...
