On June 30 and July 1, the Ashwaubenon High School Drumline preformed at the Keith Urban concert held at the Resch Center. The people organizing the tour called the high school and asked if the drumline would mind performing at the show. They gladly agreed. They gave the drumline music to practice for the concert and the group preformed. “It was so exiting performing in front of so many people,” said Shelby Hanson. After the concert, Mr. Urban donated $500 to the band program and signed a drum head.
AHS has had a drumline since they have had a marching band. People seem to recognize it more since the movie Drumline. The only difference with this group is that now the group has tuned drum heads. The group consists of Dani Lower, Shelby Hansen, Kejel VanElzen, Whitney Hansen, John Gee, Matt Vandenboomen, Brandt Bairel, Andi Peterson, Alison Davister, Jacob Manning, Brennen Boll, Kyle Swinsky, Mark Kauzlarich, and Mitch Rottier. The students involved are upperclassmen that play percussion in band. The group practices on Monday nights in the band room. As of now, they do not have any other events lined up, except performing with the marching band during the halftime shows.
