As the bell rang on Tuesday Nov. 18 all I could think about was getting to best buy buying to pick up the new Blink 182 CD and getting to work before 4 p.m. so that I wouldn’t get fired. So now, after hearing the new Blink 182 CD, I only have one bit of bad news. Unfortunately I didn’t make it to work on time.
The new Blink 182 CD is awesome. All the fans of their old stuff will love this new album and even people who don’t like Blink 182 have ended up liking this CD. Blink 182 mostly known for their childish prankster, yet often hilarious behavior and take on music, have changed drastically. I’ve never heard of any band or anyone in general mature that much in such a short span of time.
Blink 182, or more commonly known as Blink, released their first demo CD in 1992 entitled Flyswatter. Unfortunately I don’t have Flyswatter so I can’t give any insight on how the group sounded in the beginning.
I do however own all seven other Blink CDs, which includes Dude Ranch, Buddha, Cheshire Cat, Enema of the State, The Mark Tom and Travis Show (the enema strikes back), and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket.
The new CD, which is self titled, is the best Blink CD yet. It came as quite a surprise when I popped in and started listening. There previous CDs were all about having sex during awkward situations or running through the city naked (the video for what’s my age again?). Blink did however have serious moments which would include “Adam’s Song”, which dealt with suicide, and “Stay Together for the Kids”, which dealt with divorce.
The new CD however is almost entirely serious which I though turned out better than most of their old stuff. However some fans were disappointed with the album due to its lack of juvenile pranks. The new CD which deals with such topics as maturity, breaking up, divorce, and of course being alone, is a new direction for blink which I think could prove to be a better way to go.
