Say goodbye to Mr Orelli’s tennis shoes, and say hello to Mary Jacques’ love of antiquing. In the 2011 school year, there are two new Assistant Principals, Greg Keller who most recently worked as an Assistant Principal at Tuscarora, and Mrs. Jacques who worked as an Assistant Principal at Walkersville.

                                                       GREG KELLER

Mr. Keller was a history teacher at both the middle and high school level and after that he worked as an administrator at two other schools.

After work, Mr. Keller puts his children first. He coaches two local soccer teams. In addition he helps coach his three children. Also he spends his time hunting and supporting his favorite football team, the Steelers.

Education is still his main focus, “The most important part of education is to help students to do anything to achieve their potential and dream.”

Linganore is very different from Tuscarora. “You can just feel the history and legacy at this school. There are so many traditions here, and it’s completely different…”

                                                 MARY JACQUES

Mrs. Jacques (pronounced “Jakes”) worked as a science teacher at Frederick High, a Middletown High math teacher, and an Assistant Principal Walkersville High.

At Walkersville she, “initiated a school beautification program and increased efforts to improve enrollment in AP classes through the implementation of an Advanced Placement Fair,” and she, “provided outstanding instructional leadership in all academic areas,” said Michael Concepcion, current principal of Walkersville.

She enjoys antiquing and auctions and talking to her two children in college. To her, the most important part of education is, “the relationships with students and getting to know them.”

Linganore is different for her because, “it’s a lot busier than the other schools and there a lot more students, but what I’ve noticed is that a lot more teachers are taking leadership positions here.”

Both the new assistant principals are excited to be working at this school because of how new it is and the advanced technology that is present. A sneak peek of this technology is that some High School Assessments will be fully automated this year.
