The Grizzlies track team is hoping to send several of their runners to the state meet at the beginning of June this year.
“I’m really excited for this year,” said junior Colleen Lillig. “Our girl’s team is looking like we can win league, and both teams have a lot of really strong runners.”
The girl’s team has continued their success, by beating Monte Vista on April 2 to improve its record to 3-0 EBAL.
The men’s team fell just short against Monte Vista, falling to 1-2 in the always tough EBAL.
The Monte Vista meet was following the Foothill meet on March 26, where both teams won easily.
Senior Anthony Mulesky helped the men’s team by winning the 400 meters, anchoring the 4x100 meter relay and finishing third in the 200 meters.
For the women’s team, seniors Chelsey Kamson and Julianna Levy led the way by winning the 100 and 400 meters, respectively.
“Everyone stepped up and got the job done,” said Anthony about the Foothill meet.
This meet came on the heels of the team’s meet March 19 at Amador.
The women won easily with Colleen leading the way by winning the 800 meters and Julianna finishing second.
The men had a solid performance, but fell just short. Anthony carried the team by again winning the 400 meters, and anchoring the 4x400 and 4x100 meters relays, but it wasn’t enough.
“Our whole team came out and had exceptional performances. It was a great way to start the season,” said Julianna.
