Biology teacher Demby Banbury won the prestigious Biology Teacher of the Year Award on [date]. In all her 18 years of teaching here, nothing of this high honor ever crossed her path until now. [Quote from Banbury about her reaction towards receiving it]. The award was presented to her by the FCPS board at the [place where she received award]. Her family, which included her husband John and her two-year-old son Pierce, both attended the awards ceremony. Along with the award, which was a specialized plaque with her name inscribed on it in bright, gold letters, Banbury also received a pair of binoculars and a brand-new microscope. Banbury says she will give the microscope to Pierce to help him express interest in biological science in future years. [Quote from Banbury]. The Biology Teacher of the Year Award is given annually to those who show great skill and influence in demonstrating the importance of the study of natural life. Banbury was the first teacher from McLean to ever obtain such local recognition in that area of teaching. She plans to still continue teaching ninth grade Biology GT.
