Meet Brittni… Hey everyone, I’m Brit. I’m 16 and in the 11th grade. I love music, movies, reading, and writing. When I grow up, I want to be a director/producer, actress, writer, camera operator, set designer, TV/film designer, etc, etc. Meet Harini… Hey, I’m Harini. I’m 17 and a high school senior. I was born in New York, but I’ve lived in California for most of my life. My family is from India, which could explain my love for all kinds of Indian food, Indian music, etc. I watch American movies also-my favorite types include, but aren’t limited to, romantic comedy, regular comedy, adventure, etc. I like hanging out with my friends at places like the mall, movies, and beach. I like playing tennis, although I’m just a beginner and haven’t been able to play for a while. Once you get to know me, you’ll find that I can be pretty talkative. Meet Katie… My name is Katie Maritz and I am a junior. I write the column, “Beauty 101.” I am almost 17 years old. I live in Lancaster, California with my mother and my pets. I have many pets and I love them. My dog’s name is Chloe. She is short, chubby and is so cute. I have two cats and a fishpond with koi fish in it. I enjoy volunteering at the local hospital near where I live each week. I like to go to movies or out to eat with my family and friends on the weekends. One of my favorite things is to go shopping. I never get tired of shopping! Meet Marissa… My name is Marissa. I am 14 years old and I am a 9th grader. I have three brothers and one nephew that I love with all my heart! I love to write poetry and at times, I love to read. That’s really there is all to me. Bye! Meet Rubi… Hey there everybody! My name is Rubi Danely Barrera. I’m 16 going on 17. I’m in the 10th grade and working hard. I love to take photos; it’s one of my hobbies. I love taking pictures of scenery where I live. I love technology and anything to do with organization. I’m a writer and photographer. I mostly do photography and sometimes articles for the newspaper. Last thing, I love to talk. Meet Amanda… My name is Amanda Rodriguez. I am 16 years old and a junior at Insight. I’ll be turning 17 on April 3. I am half Guatemalan and half Spanish. My father was born and raised until adolescent years in Guatemala City while my mother was born and raised in Los Angeles. I have a brother who is 30 and a sister who is 25. I am an aunt of five boys and girls, all under ten years of age. Before Insight, I had attended Warren High school in Downey California on a permit for my freshmen-junior first semester. The reason I joined insight was because my mother has recently became ill. She has been driving me back and forth to Downey (through 3 other cities) for 6 years now because they offered a better education than what was available in my neighborhood, South Central Los Angeles. I would consider myself a hermit due to living in a different city than the one where I go to school and my friends reside. I usually leave the house to go to the market with my father or to visit my sister. Every Tuesday and Thursday, I tutor students that attend a continuation school. I also participate at a local elementary as an unofficial teacher’s assistant.
