Closing Time

Monday, June 09, 2008 By By: John Burtka

Graduation, it is that time of year once again the time of year when classmates and friends gather together for one final hooray. Most would consider it a bittersweet experience. After all, it is the very last time that all of the members of the senior class will be assembled together in one place. While the students may be headed down different paths, people tend to get too caught up in the hype of separation. We each have a very long life to live, and we will meet many new people along the journey. As we bind and loose relationships throughout our lives, it is very important to remember that our actions will echo in eternity. We not only have the opportunity to share fellowship with people in this world, but in the next as well. The book of Ecclesiastes states “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Yes, Graduation is a beautiful time, but we also have eternity to celebrate. An eternal celebration of all that God has to offer. So before we mourn the loss of our friends, we should first consider the benefits of a relationship with Jesus Christ. For if we follow Jesus, we can be together with God and all of our brothers and sisters for eternity. It will be a celebration that will never get old, and a “one more time” that will be forever answered.
