After skin cancer, breast Cancer is the most frequently diagnosed Cancer in women in the United States. It is second Only to lung cancer in cancer- related deaths. Brest cancer costs this nation $6 billion annually, in medical Cost and lost productivity. Last year, Congress approved $15.5 billion in funding for health research in 1999; It is anticipated that $479 million of that amount will go toward breast cancer research this year.
