Review: Quantum of Solace

“Is that it?” I thought as the credits rolled up the screen. Movies are supposed to leaving me wanting more but not the way Quantum of Solace did. It was a huge disappointment, compared to all the hype. I wanted to see the new James Bond movie for action and thrills, , but it was mostly about plot and Bond’s dead girlfriend. Another thing I didn’t like was when Bond gets emotional over his friend and scene dragged on a little too long for my liking. I wanted to see the villain, a rich, wimpy looking guy, actually succeed with a major part of his plan and Bond foil it, but instead Bond ends the villian’s plot before it really takes off. On the plus side, the fact that Bond is kicked out of MI6, the British Secret Service that Bond works with, for gratuitous killing which really adds to the conflict and plot. Quantum of Solace isn’t devoid of surprises, but it won’t keep you on the end of your seat throughout the whole movie. Almost all of my favorite scenes ocurr at the beginning of the movie with an unexpected twist and an adrenaline-rushing chase and fight scene. The only other cool moment would be when James Bond finds another MI6 agent dead and covered in crude oil reveling the villian’s wit. If you haven’t seen it yet, you would probably be better off just waiting for the DVD.
