Dance class takes field tripThursday, March 05, 2009 By Calvin Ching
(November 21, 2006) -- Dance class members walked into class on Thursday complaining of sore thighs, resulting from their field trip Wednesday to learn jazz and circus dancing. Twenty students were in attendance. The group left school early to make it to both of their locations on time. Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood was first on their list of places to go. Once they arrived on the scene, they took a lesson in jazz dancing for about an hour and a half. They then rushed over to Focus Fish Studios, which was just across the street, to learn some circus dancing. First they tried aerial dancing called “fabric” dancing where the dancer hangs over the ground using just two pieces of thin cloth. “It was hard, but most of us were able to reach the top,” senior Armig Khodanian said. The students also tried their hand at the trapeze, which is a bar that swings from one point to another. Dance teacher Jessica Moorehead said she plans to have another dance field trip next semester so the students can broaden their knowledge of dance techniques. |
