Rams not only charge for the top, but they travel too ~ EuroRams prepare for summer tripTuesday, May 19, 2009 By Bianca Gomez
Summertime typically means that teenagers slack around, wake up at the crack of noon, having no care of the world, and relax on vacations. While some kids stay in the city and some stay in the state, one lucky group of students have the opportunity to travel across the great Atlantic ocean this summer. “[I wanted to go to Europe] because I want to expand my horizons about the countries and the people,” sophomore Chelsea Allen McDaniel said, “I want to learn about the environment around them. We’ll be in Europe for two weeks” The students going to France, Spain, Rome and the French Mediterranean Coast with World History teachers Mrs. Caesar-Jones and Mr. Roberds are part of the group called EuroRams. Not only is this a trip where most people do not ever get to experience in their lifetime, but it is also a learning opportunity for the students. “[From this trip] I’ll learn that we’re all human,” Sophomore Emily Danielson said, “[And] that we’re all not so different just because of our cultures.” According to Ms. Caesar- Jones, traveling to another country is not the only reason why she coordinated this trip. “[Mr. Roberds and I] felt like a lot of history we cover [in class] is in Europe,” Jones said. “[Also] we don’t pick the trips [of where to go]; we let the students choose them.” Being on a plane, traveling to foreign yet familiar area and interacting with new people are just some of the things these students will get to experience, with an affordable price; their coordinator hopes that their students will mature a little as well. “I hope that the students grow as people and experience the world,” Caesar-Jones said. “[Mr. Roberds and I] want Cy-Ridge students to have a chance to travel the world at a low cost.” |
