Safety Bug Friday, May 22, 2009 By Devin Wallace
On Monday, May 18th, the students of C-A learned the effects of impairment. No, not being impaired by a runner in the base path, or being impaired on a diet by the tasty treats of sweets, but instead by alcohol and drugs. This year featured the Safety Bug Day, as many call it. During the morning, we had a speaker come to our school, and explain her first-hand knowledge with drunk driving and the consequences that come with the dangerous decision. Many students came to understand the dangers of drunk driving, and juniors and seniors had the chance to experience it outright. The Safety Bug is a great opportunity, in this writer’s opinion, to grasp the effects of drunk driving, most of which are too frequently forgotten in student’s minds. The Bug gave us a chance to come to terms with what really can happen, but in a fun manner. All in all, we should all take from that event what we need to know for the real world out there. Actions have consequences, so choose wisely. |
