Next Year's Editiors

Wednesday, June 03, 2009 By Amanda Wikle

Next year, the Park View newspaper program will welcome a handful of new talents to leadership positions. Joy Urban will be serving as the editor in chief, Amanda Brawley as the editor of the online edition, Tim French as the editor of the traditional printed quarterly, and Kelly Griffith as the editor of the bi-weekly edition, which will go up in the foyer and the library about once every two weeks. Also, for the first time, next year’s newspaper will benefit from the institution of assistant editors, who will benefit from the position by being exposed to and being “trained for” the leadership responsibilities involved. Assistant editors for next year include Tullia Johnston as the assistant editor in chief, Carleigh Snead as the assistant editor of the online edition, Hadjer Lahlah as the assistant editor of the traditional quarterly, and Jessica Watts as the assistant editor of the bi-weekly edition. Mr. Barton, the head of the newspaper program, stated that he was very excited for this coming year and the work involved. The online edition has been going well, he said, and provides an excellent alternative to the expensive reality of printing the quarterly editions. Also, it allows the newspaper to cover more events and remain more relevant to the goings-on at school. He also stated that he was very excited for next year’s staff because of the inherent and converging talents shared amongst its members. Many changes are on the horizon for Park View’s news program as well. Mr. Barton added that in attempts to be more relevant and accessible, the newspaper is considering text alerts, Podcasts, and video streaming on the website.
