Softball Players See ImprovementMonday, June 08, 2009 By Staff
The LHS Softball Team may not have a lot of checks in the win column, but it does have pride in its season. Coach Oswald recognized that “As a whole, and in comparison to last year, our players made huge strides in communicating with each other on the field and in building trust among themselves.” In addition, the coaches saw significant improvement in “solid” hitting and feel that it was the impetus needed to continue on the path to success in future seasons. Captains Aliccia Hans, Stephanie Watson, and Jamie Carter each “brought a little something different to the playing field,” Oswald said. “They all really came together and helped the younger players in learning all of the drills.” In addition, Hans was selected to the Second Team All Conference, while Watson and Carter were selected to represent LHS in the Senior All Star game. Coach Oswald sees freshman Katelyn Carter as one to watch in the future. “As a freshman, she was thrown in to pinch-hit situations which later turned into a Designated Player position for her, and every time she stepped up to the plate, she got the ball into play.” All the coaches encourage the current players and those who want to join the team next year to make strides this summer in their fitness, their hitting, and their fielding skills. |
