Teacher Jason Satwalekar appears as somewhat of a mystery to students. Underclassmen view him as the most intimidating teacher at Harding, and few see his more natural side. He must be serious to prepare students for the AP test, but outside of school he proves to be a different person. “Satty-Cat-Daddy in class is very strict. He rarely laughs in class but in student council he laughs a lot.” Said Darreletha Todd. Satwalekar went to Edmond Santa Fe High School , where he played sports, and was vice president of student council. He was involved in the National Honors Society, and spirit club. Even though he was never a cheerleader, he still showed school spirit by painting his body for football games. Satwalekar attended Oklahoma University , and earned a degree in history. Even though he loves teaching, if he had the option, he would like to be a Hollywood stuntman. Although he has traveled to countries, and multiple continents, his favorite places he has been to was Switzerland , Scotland , and India . Students believe Satwalekar must not have a life since he has so many quizzes to grade each night. In reality, he stays after school grading quizzes and gets them finished before he goes home. Outside of school he enjoys going to movies, concerts, playing basketball and hanging out with friends. The running of the bulls in Spain seems like a dangerous activity that only certain daredevils will attempt. Jason Satwalekar is one of the rare individuals who are brave enough to run amongst bulls. He also enjoys hang gliding and bungee jumping. Music is a large part of Satwalekar’s life. He enjoys listening to indie rock. Some of his favorite bands include Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, U2, and the Decembrists. He also admits to listening to eighties pop music as his guilty pleasure. He likes the songs “Take on me” by A-Ha, and “ Africa ” by Toto. Satwalekar goes to concerts but admits that U2 and Band of Horses has been his favorite so far. If he had the option, he would like to play the triangle in the band Arcade Fire. Satwalekar can relate to male students by admitting to having a crush on Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, and Megan Fox. If he could be any celebrity he would like to be Tom Brady. “He’s got it all.” said Satwalekar. Jason Satwalekar is a normal person that underclassmen do not have to be so afraid of at school. Deep down he is still somewhat of a teenager. He had a great time while in high school, and relives some of his favorite moments by staying in touch with close high school friends. Satwalekar proves to be a great teacher, and a great role model for students. “He’s a good role model to have at school” said student David Webster. |
