The Beckman Chronicle
Beckman's Triple ThreatWednesday, October 21, 2009 By Maham Usman
Platinum curls, baby blue eyes, and a talent for both fashion and singing, senior Breanna Bagley is just a modern version of Hollywood’s Marilyn Monroe. The busy and intelligent teenager knows how to balance the hectic schedule of an upperclassman, while still expressing herself creatively through her personal style and singing. Bagley discusses her vocal talent, fashion, and her high aspirations for a bright future. Bagley has been singing ever since she could speak, but started taking it seriously in seventh and eighth grade. When high school came around, she decided to go full force with preparation and practice. She revealed, “I went to Orange County Performing Arts Center (OCHSA) my freshman and sophomore year. The teachers there inspired me to work on my singing.” Bagley's teachers motivated her to take singing to a new level. Her two years at the Orange County High School of the Arts have inevitably flared her passion for singing. Bagley, in her own words, “has always been interested in fashion because she loves clothes,” but her mom's work at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing (FIDM) sparked an interest regarding a higher level of fashion. FIDM is a school for people that are interested in receiving a degree in fashion, graphics, or interior design. Bagley has also attended a program called “Three Days of Fashion.” This program is targeted at high school students who want to acquire more knowledge about FIDM and the programs offered there. Bagley worked at FIDM as a student assistant with a few other select students her age. Bagley's love for fashion even follows her home. “I have a mannequin in my room that I like to dress up sometimes,” she explained. Bagley, like most fashion designers, loves to draw, sketch and design. Her love of clothes may inspire her to one day become a fashion designer or stylist. Bagley has a lot on her plate this year, balancing all of her interests. She advised, “You kind of have to prioritize, with school coming first.” The prospect of graduating is definitely something to look forward to for many seniors. Bagley, in particular, “loves it!" She is incredibly excited about the rest of her final year of high school. Being one year closer to leaving Beckman, Bagley has started to think about the future. While fashion is an important part of her life, her long history in singing causes her to have a special connection for that particular talent. Whether it is her aptitude in school, her gift of singing, or her expertise in fashion, Bagley is going far and is not a student to be forgotten. Her hobbies and interests inspire her peers, and her positive attitude will certainly leave an impression on whatever stage or runway her talent touches. |
